Hüllhorst
Windmühle Struckhof
The Wall-Holländer was built in 1883 by Karl Kröger, the grandfather of the current owner.
Until 1938 the mill was operated only by wind. Then, when a wing broke during a storm, it was switched to motor power.
In 1987, as part of the restoration, the mill was given a new mill tower at the original height, as well as a new hood, a wind rose system and wind-powered sail wings with a diameter of 23 meters.
The currently valid dimensions of the mill are:
Height 16.5 m
diameter at the bottom = 9,5 m
diameter above = 5,5 m
Power at wind force 6 - 7 / blade revolutions 12 times a minute / approx. 30 HP
Since 2004 there is an approved area for paragliders at the mill in Struckhof. The paragliding department is part of the SV-Schnathorst.
If wind and weather permit, you can observe a colorful hustle and bustle on the ground as well as in the air.
